I love my job!

My first day teaching K-4 was awesome! At the end of the day I was walking from the office back to my classroom and just thinking about how much I loved my day and how exciting it is that I get to do something I love every day. Wow! I am incredibly blessed.

I'm not sure about whether I can post pix of kids, so for now here are some kidless pictures of my room & the area in front of my door.

What a fun (and tiring) job! You have helpers, I hope?

Very colorful and appealing room. And what verdant grass.

So glad you are enjoying teaching. It is a rewarding experience. Keep that radiant smile when the going gets tough, girl!

Hi Rebecca,
Glad to see you smiling at the end of the first day:)
Your classroom looks really nice - and having the outdoor/recess area right outside your room is a great setup!
How many in your class? Have many girls/boys? Do they stay all day, or do you have two classes for 1/2 day each? What time do they arrive in the am?
Hey, do you remember that building where you and Kim went with me to attend a lecture by E. Elliott? Well, the new facility is ready to be used now and is much larger. The acoustics are really great, so music and listening to speakers should be quite nice there.
Anxious to hear more about your classroom...
love you,
Aunt Shirley

You have a very cute work area. I'm sure that you'll do a great job with all those k4ers!

I'm thrilled to see you thriving in K4. We miss you in Cubicle-land. The Dord of the Way guest appearances do help make your absence less distressing. Oops...I think I just made a spoonerism.

Ah, yes, Spoonerisms...such fun!!!
Did you hear about the gentleman, who when showing a man to his seat, said, "Let me sew you to your sheet"?
Rebecca, did you ever hear the one the Tucker household actually experienced in a meeting we attended one weekend when we were kids: a speaker was giving a serious speech and was trying to say, "the bum in the gutter" and instead said, "the gum in the butter"! He tried unsuccessfully -3 times- to say it correctly and by then the audience was laughing so hard there was NO way to go back to the seriousness of the topic on which he was speaking.
So how is school going now that you've been in session a while? Are you exhausted at the end of the day? Are you writing down all the cute things the children are saying/doing?
Anxiously awaiting your next posting,
love, Aunt Shirley

I didn't know that spoonerisms (should that be capitalized?) had a family history! I learn such interesting things on blogs. I agree - Rebecca needs to make a new post.

Thanks, Aunt Shirley!

Yeah, comes from the Reverend Spooner, who regularly made that mistake in his sermons. Wish I could have been there.

Hi,
I am so glad to hear that you love your job! Your classroom looks great. How many kids do you have? Every thing looks new. It looks like a fun place to teach. It brings back some memories. We are fine here in SC. Zorro has gotten bigger, but hasn't slowed down any. Take care.
Love, Nina

So cute! I actually have the SAME trapezoid tables for my 8th graders. And I make them do "circle time" too (only I call it Grand Conversations to make it more mature! ha ha!). Looks like fun! I'll have to post photos of my classroom soon!
Do you need any teacher resources? Do you mostly use online resources? If you need any I could email you some links, but I bet you've already scoured the inet for them! Let me know!
