boys will be boys

When my sister & I were growing up, one of the most frustrating expressions we heard from the mouth of our mom & the aunts was, "Boys will be boys" when my brothers & cousins were torturing us. Turns out my nephew is following in the footsteps of his uncles. I got this in an email from my sister yesterday...

(my nephew Payson is almost three, his sister Piper is 17 months)

"I was trying to distract Payson from bugging me while I was making dinner. I asked him to pick up his plastic valentine heart that opens and find some treasure to put in it. Surely it would take several minutes to find something small enough. He walked out of the kitchen and immediately I heard Piper's "payson's-bugging-me" screech. I looked up to see Payson proudly smashing the two halves of the heart together and commenting, "Piper's a treasure, Mommy" with an endearing grin (yeah, right, like you're going to discipline me for being so cute to find a creative way to irritate sissy & love her at the same time)."

Oh dear...that was fun to read...but can I try and excuse myself from being an aunt who said boys will be boys...did I really ever say that?! What an excuse :)
Payson's pretty clever to have figured that out...Rachel, if you read this, you'd better start him to school early!!! (spoken as an educator, of course!)
Rebecca, any news about the luggage/vonage? Do you want our LBC team to bring anyrthing over?
love you,
Aunt Shirley

Ha! "The expression is boys will be boys, Harriett, but in this case, it's monsters will be monsters!"

Remember that one???

No, Yes & Yes!

No, I have given up on my Air France Luggage. I'm going back for the 5th time on Wednesday to find out what they're going to give me in recompense.

Yes, I would love to send a Vonage box with the LBC team that's coming in March. I'll email you to figure out details :)

Yes, I was laughing out loud at the Monsters quote - good ole Nellie Olsen!

Ha-ha! Great story Bex. Kids will be kids . . . boy they say the cutest things sometimes. I would have had a hard time not laughing out loud seeing little Payson trying to ft Piper into his heart box. :)

Are these Rachel's kids you're talking about?

Hi, I got your email and answered it, but like before, it came back. So, I guess this is the only way I can reach you. Now that it is spring, the weather has turned cool here. But, as you know, it will warm up soon. We are fine. Zorro got "tutored" and declawed last week. He is milking the "carry me" to the hilt! He tries to keep us from leaving the house and scolds us when we get home. I wish I had the necessary things to send you his picture. You'll love him. Hopefully you'll be able to visit all of us this summer when you come home. Brynn will be 3 in a couple of weeks. Hard to believe. She is still a "mite" in size, but only there. Loved the pictures. Take care.
Love,
Nina
