"Apple!"
We've been slowly learning vocabulary for food this week. We started with fruit and went on to vegetables. With each set of words we do several activities giving the kids a chance to practice their new vocabulary. The other day our trays of food got delivered from the cafeteria (K-4 eats in our room) for lunch. One of my non-english speakers broke out in a huge smile as he held up a piece of fruit and called out, "Miss Rebecca, apple!" I think my smile matched his. It's so exciting to see them learning English.

Good work, Teacher!! It is really rewarding when they get, isn't it?!

That's great! I like catching the end of your lessons when you're putting the fruit and the veggies back in the basket. "We'll put back the cauliflower, the onion, the carrots, the tomato"... :)
Hmmm...apples...applesauce...organic apple juice...teaching your non-English speakers how to say “apple”...
It seems you’re “apple” to the core these days.
When I was growing up, my dad was sitting at the dinner table and poured applesauce from a jar onto his plate a little too quickly and ended up with a whole plateful. We laughed at him for weeks because of it.
Kids can be so insensitive.
